When you see the Nova Scotia Loyal logo or sticker on a product, you’ll know it’s authentically Nova Scotian — made, grown, harvested, or transformed by a business that has met our eligibility criteria and been accepted as an official Nova Scotia Loyal partner. Look for the Nova Scotia Loyal logo on products or displays at participating vendors, including farmers’ markets, local businesses, and major retailers. Participating restaurants and food service providers will also display the logo on their menus or point of sale
First, we ensure that a company is locally owned and operated. Next, we evaluate each product. To earn the sticker, a product must be grown, harvested, crafted, and/or manufactured in Nova Scotia. They must also meet one of the following criteria:
a. All of the ingredients, materials, and production take place in Nova Scotia. Fresh produce, meat, and seafood are good examples.
b. The product is made in Nova Scotia, even though some of the ingredients or materials come from outside the province. Baked goods and handmade crafts are good examples.
c. The product is made or significantly changed in Nova Scotia by adding local materials or processing it here. For example, coffee beans are not grown, but are roasted in Nova Scotia, or products are manufactured or assembled here using materials that aren't available locally like windows and doors.
